“Drawing is at the heart of everything I create. It has no boundaries or particular audience. It’s a paper sketch, the bending of a steel wire, a haiku carved into a kitchen table. Every surface is a possibility. Drawing is for me a fundamental practice to researching, and to honing one’s craft. Ultimately, it is there to externalise questions and observations. Leaving them open to chance, to cross-pollinate and grow.”

As a researcher, maker and educator. I’m here to share what I have learned. Ultimately to enable others to grow and understand.”

Bronze Age LondonThey say:
“Alexander Lumsden is a uniquely generous educator. His wealth of expertise concerning the history of bronze creates a firm and steady foundation for his innovative eye to its future. By offering such an expansive picture of what bronze has been, is, and can be, he sets students up to imagine and experiment rigorously, inviting his audience to use this exciting medium to its full potential. Prompt, generous, flexible and optimistic throughout our communications, he has been a pleasure to work with and learn from.”
