  • Explore through drawing

“Drawing is at the heart of everything I create. It has no boundaries or particular audience. It’s a paper sketch, the bending of a steel wire, a haiku carved into a kitchen table. Every surface is a possibility. Drawing is for me a fundamental practice to researching, and to honing one’s craft. Ultimately, it is there to externalise questions and observations. Leaving them open to chance, to cross-pollinate and grow.”

Production Manager & Head of Education, 2015-2022

Bronze Age London

Production Manager at one of Europe’s leading fine art bronze foundries. During my time at Bronze Age London I developed the highest level of craftsmanship in all aspects of sculpture. 2018 promoted to Head of Education to set up and managed Bronze Age London’s Educational department to further the understanding of bronze casting in the 21st century.

Bronze Age London

They say:

“Alexander Lumsden is a uniquely generous educator. His wealth of expertise concerning the history of bronze creates a firm and steady foundation for his innovative eye to its future. By offering such an expansive picture of what bronze has been, is, and can be, he sets students up to imagine and experiment rigorously, inviting his audience to use this exciting medium to its full potential. Prompt, generous, flexible and optimistic throughout our communications, he has been a pleasure to work with and learn from.”
